The three islets of Li Galli, from time immemorial linked to the myth of the sirens, can be admired from here. The Lungo rock is the largest of the three and is the only one to have been inhabited since Roman times. The small archipelago is part of the Marine Protected Area of Punta Campanella.
A path from the church of Saint Constance reaches the other peak, called Monte Croce, which is higher than the first and also offers a spectacular view over the headland of Punta Campanella and, on the right, over the island of Capri.
Going off the path, along the grassy cliff overlooking the sea, you can take in extraordinary views of the tip of the Sorrento peninsula and, not far away, the magnificent silhouette of the island of Capri.
From the top of Saint Constance, the panorama takes in the entire territory of Massa Lubrense; the view extends from the Bay of Naples to that of Salerno, with an awesome view of Vesuvius and the islands of Ischia and Procida, completely visible circling the building.
On the façade of the Church, a plaque commemorates Antonio Mitrano, an emigrant who financed the restoration of the Church from Buenos Aires by selling his properties in Termini in 1950, demonstrating the still very much alive devotion to the patron saint of Capri.
The church dedicated to Saint Constance, bishop and protector of the island of Capri, founded by some local families, dates back to the second half of the 16th century: the first mentions of it date back to 1566. The modest chapel is closed to the public, except on the days of the two processions.
Some wooden crosses indicate the limestone steps that lead to the church of Saint Constance, where religious processions are held twice a year. During the procession on May 14, hundreds of faithful climb up Mount San Costanzo from the square in Termini for the Holy Mass. In July, the golden statue of the Saint is carried back to the church of Termini, its original home, accompanied by the notes of the musical band and spectacular fireworks.
Before the steps leading to the church, the path climbs up in the shade of a pine wood, set in the col between the two peaks, Monte San Costanzo and Monte Croce.
If you make the climb in the late afternoon, you can admire Monte San Costanzo which, at sunset, shows us all the splendour of its white and bare rock, hinting at the meaning of the toponym of Monte Canuto.
Monte San Costanzo, at the top of which there is the church with the same name, is the highest hill of Massa Lubrense, easily accessible from Termini on foot, by car or motorbike. The route on foot follows part of the Athena Trail, a loop that connects Punta Campanella to Monte San Costanzo.
Two peaks mark the headland: on the left, the one with the characteristic white church dedicated to Saint Constance; on the right, on the other peak, there is a radio station for air traffic control.
