htmlText_42CFC2D9_5B83_F7A1_41D0_AABF38396686.html = The section dedicated to the period of Roman dominion has on display statues that adorned some tombs, burial reliefs, some of which come from the city's amphitheater, as well as a wide range of epigraphic testimonies.
htmlText_47EE4D0E_5B82_52A3_41D6_B45638D4FAC0.html = The visit continues with the finds from the Imperial age, with a room devoted entirely to the villa of Augustus discovered at Somma Vesuviana and numerous other Augustan-era reliefs found in the area around Nola.
htmlText_4B4A6B1E_5B82_D6A3_41D5_5B8CE1BE2A35.html = The rooms dedicated to the "City of Knights", present the period between the 6th and 4th centuries BC. The exhibition, with vases of Athenian origin, with the help of educational panels, introduces the Samnite people, whose presence in Campania dates back to the second half of the 5th century BC.
htmlText_4B8985BA_5B8E_5DE3_41CF_6E62A1F1B8A8.html = The display cases contain the oldest finds, consisting mainly of terracotta containers. In this section on display there are grave goods datable to between the end of the 7th and the beginning of the 6th century BC, highlighting the Etruscan influence on the Nolan community. Alongside these, the collection includes pottery of Greek origin linked to the consumption of wine on the occasion of the symposium, typical event in the life of the aristocratic classes.
htmlText_4E59D27C_5B8E_5767_41C7_06BAEC33B571.html = The focal point of this section of the museum are the painted chest and semi-chamber tombs in the centre of the room. The Tomba del Cavaliere (Knight's Tomb) and Casamarciano chest tombs, of which the Tomba dei Togati (Togatus Tomb) and the Tomba della danzatrice (Dancer's Tomb) are remarkable examples, have been reconstructed on site.
htmlText_54699080_5B8E_739E_41AA_2518AB1BB922.html = One of the huts found during the excavation at the settlement at Croce del Papa near Nola has ben rebuilt in one room of the museum. Some of the finds have been arranged inside the wooden structure, reproduced in full scale, to show where the furniture was placed and how the original spaces were used.
htmlText_78156619_5B86_FEA1_41CD_8550AF1E51F5.html = The exhibition ends with a section dedicated to the end of the ancient world and the transition to the Middle Ages, with a rich collection of ceramics
htmlText_7A9DA0A9_5BFE_73E1_41C0_F09F9B6DBE4F.html = In the Roman section, a "thermopolium", an ancient restaurant, a sort of "rotisserie" ante litteram, with a large pallet open to the public has been reconstructed. The restaurant has terracotta recesses where the food was kept warm. On the walls there are paintings and wall writings.
htmlText_CE973B3E_C37D_8176_41C6_2C24F5FE70E2.html = The Museum is in a prestigious building that was once an Order of the Canossian Sisters convent. On completion of the restoration, the town authorities decided that it would be used as an exhibition centre to illustrate the history of the territory of Nola to the public through a wide and pondered choice of archaeological finds.
