Antonio Cardarelli 2019
The mural, depicting the illustrious clinician after whom the largest hospital in southern Italy is named, opens on an internal wall of the Neapolitan hospital, near the Historic Pavilion. Dedicated to a medical luminary of the second half of the nineteenth century, head physician at the Incurabili Hospital, professor of Medical Pathology at the Royal University of Naples, as well as a senator of the Kingdom and trusted doctor to illustrious figures (Giuseppe Garibaldi, Vittorio Emanuele II, Umberto I, Giuseppe Verdi, Benedetto Croce), the work is intended as a message in defence of public health and a fight for acquired rights and those not yet guaranteed.
