Michele Russo Museum of Rural Life
Located in the ancient kitchen garden and cellars of the Santa Maria del Pozzo convent complex (15th-16th century), since 1995 it has exhibited tools related to domestic and rural life, ancient tools used by craftsmen and old machinery still in working order (over 3000 items) and a collection of period photographs of Campania. Musical instruments for performing traditional tamurriate or used in peasant festive rituals complete the exhibition.Objects, instruments, tools and artefacts come from the Vesuvian area and the province of Naples and outline the life and culture of the peasants before the introduction of agricultural machinery in the cultivation of the fields, documenting transport systems, the cultivation of vines and the production of wine, domestic activities around the hearth, the space dedicated to animals and their importance in the domestic economy.
