Museum of wooden marquetry

The eighteenth-century palazzo houses some of the most beautiful examples of marquetry in its rooms. The four floors that make up the workshop museum display works from the fifteenth to the nineteenth century made in Sorrento and in other Italian and European schools: a journey through the tradition of working furniture and objects with wooden marquetry. Also part of the museum's collections are period prints and photos documenting Sorrento's landscape and life in the 19th century; a section devoted to artefacts and documents on working techniques, tools of the trade and the various decorative themes, with an exhibition of works made by 19th-century Sorrentine marquetry craftsmen and the masters of the Sorrento School of Art (now the State Institute of Art) and finally an area reserved for modern inlaid objects and furniture.
