The ancient mule track from Nola to Visciano

From the hill of Cicala, a short distance from the centre of Nola, the road intersects the ancient mule track, which can be followed on foot - a rural path linking the villages and the countryside, once used for the passage of mules carrying goods and food - which connects the two hills of the Nola area and allows you to reach, in a walk of about two-three hours, the hermitage of Camaldoli Visciano. A naturalistic, historical and scenic itinerary to 'explore' the hills around Nola, rich in historical and architectural evidence, inhabited by unchanged flora and fauna, with centuries-old olive and hazelnut groves. With unexpected panoramic views in places still known as 'belvederes' in the area: from the complex of Sant'Angelo in Palco, halfway up the hill of Cicala, you can dominate the city of Nola and the Vesuvian plain, in an infinite panorama; and on the hill of Visciano, from the belvedere of the hermitage of Santa Maria degli Angeli, on a clear day the view sweeps 360 degrees from the Lattari mountains on the Sorrento coast to Punta Campanella, from the Neapolitan hill of San Martino to Mount Epomeo on Ischia, Vesuvius and the Partenio mountains.
