From the Protohistoric to the Contemporary Age
In Somma Vesuviana, the Roman villa known as Villa Augustea in Starza della Regina poses a fascinating question and in Poggiomarino, the protohistoric complex of Longola bears witness to the most ancient history of the Nolan area. A contemporary counterpoint to the immersion in Antiquity is the Emblema Museum in Terzigno, set up in the house-museum of Salvatore Emblema, which connects to the past in the study and use of ancient and natural materials in artistic practice. In Nola, one of the most important civitas south of Rome, the Museo Storico Archeologico dell'Antica Nola (Historical Archaeological Museum of Ancient Nola) and the prehistoric village of Croce del Papa reconstruct the passage of centuries in the Nola countryside. And in Cimitile, the early Christian basilica complex investigates the deep roots of religious feeling in a highly evocative itinerary.
