The discovery of beauty and rediscovered love: a journey 'into' the south, made up of art and amazing landscapes, reflecting the inner investigation of the director, Roberto Rossellini, and the Joyce couple (Ingrid Bergman and George Sanders), the protagonists of Viaggio in Italia (1953). We follow the path traced by Katherine, discovering Naples and its territory, through crowded streets full of sounds, smells and joy, or in legendary and mysterious places, and Alex, who chases the intoxication of the senses so as not to deal with feelings that also emerge in contact with unusual realities. From the Neapolitan seafront, with the Hotel Excelsior and the Fountain of the Giant, to a walk along Via Chiaia, a street of commercial activities and aristocratic residences; to the National Archaeological Museum, which recounts the most ancient history of the South, of Naples, Herculaneum and Pompeii; to the Fontanelle cemetery, an affirmation of popular religiosity and the profound relationship between the living and the dead. And then there are the topical places of memory such as the Solfatara in Pozzuoli, the Antro della Sibilla and the Temple of Apollo in Cumae; the Vesuvian cities of the Golden Mile: modern, such as Torre del Greco, and ancient, such as Pompeii in 79 AD; and Capri, one of the most beautiful islands in the Mediterranean.
