The locations of ’ L’ amica geniale ’

From the Rione Luzzatti to Gianturco, home of Lila and Lenù, to the historic streets of the city centre: the Rettifilo (Corso Umberto I), an innovative urban planning scheme from the end of the 19th century, is one of the busiest streets in the city because of its commercial activities - it is here that Lila buys her wedding dress - and the presence of Federico II University. A stroll through Port'Alba, the hub of university life, among the stalls and historic bookshops, recalling Elena's passion for studying and books, and then on to Galleria Umberto I, an ideal model of the new city designed between the 19th and 20th centuries, perhaps for an ice cream, following a suggestion from the young people of the Rione, then a stop at the city's most famous café, Gambrinus, to taste the 'real' Neapolitan coffee. A pleasant climb takes you to Piazza dei Martiri, a crossroads of elegant shopping streets where Lila and Stefano open their shoe shop. The sea is just a stone's throw away: in Elena's childhood memories, the Caracciolo promenade is a blue triumph of panoramas between sky and water. And it is the prelude to the beauty of the Posillipo hill, the ideal setting for Stefano and Lila's wedding party.
